Ushak Rugs or Oushak Rugs are Turkish carpets that use a particular family of designs, called by convention after the city of Uşak, Turkey – one of the larger towns in Western Anatolia. Uşak was a major center of rug production from the early days of the Ottoman Empire and into the early 20th century (although these patterns were woven in other regions also).
These kinds of old Oushak Rugs are between 60-80 years old. Original colors are mainly navy blue and red. We spread these rugs under the sun for 2-3 months in summer to help create the faded appearance. Finally, each rug gets overdyed with a beautiful earthy tone without using any chemicals.
